Rock A Bye Baby

This is how I spent my week. I had so much fun!
I decided it was time to get the cradle ready for Oliver's first visit to East Aurora-date to be determined-but I wanted to make sure I was ready.

I loved the baby quilt I saw at 6.5 sts and thought this would be an opportunity to try a similar one on a small scale.

I recovered the bumper pad that came with the cradle and made sheets because I couldn't find any ready made that were the right size. I just made them like a big pillow case with extra room at the bottom opening for tucking in. I also thought a couple of wet proof pads might help out since I only made 2 sheets. I came up empty handed when I tried to find the water resistant pads for them so I used inexpensive placemats cut down and covered with fabric and a layer of thin batting. Doesn't that sound cheesy? Honestly, no one would ever guess so don't tell.

One more little project will complete the cradle and then we will be already for our babe's visit.

I can't wait to look at this on something other than my bberry. What a lucky babe!how lovely that oliver will be able to sleep in so much love! I love the 6.5 stitches quilt, too and have fabric to try one-now I really can't wait to make mine!

Oh and I like that you're being called nonno. That's what my in-laws call themselves'too, nonna and nonno. Though now that I think about it, Anna is nonna....

oh WOW! That came out so great! tell me more about the little tags on the quilt -- hold on -- I'm going back to look.

Oh I completely dig the little ribbons. Very cool indeed.

Yeah, tell me how you say that mom? Nawhna? The buffalo accent can change these words in a heart beat! ;)

I'm confused...how does your mother in law pronounce it? I thought by spelling it nonna we eliminated the Buffalo twang. NON-NA. Seems to me I had this discussion in Boston with A & A also.

Your confusion stems from the fact that I can't read. For whatever reason, I'd read what you wrote at n-o-n-n-o, not the way you actually did write it. So ignore me completely.

And you'll also notice that I didn't blog. Check out Abi's New Home (on the side bar) to see why.

You are excused from blogging. Where are you getting the energy? I thought you'd be totally jet lagged all weekend.

Rob's a slavedriver, let me tell you! Actually, I think I was probably so out of it that I didn't realize how jetlagged I really was.

It does look like it will be worth all the work.
