Birthday gift!

We went up to PA this weekend and I wanted to show off my birthday gift from my friend, Deb. She got me a bunch of fabric samples, you know, from those sample books that we covet. An absolutely fabulous gift!

We made the observation that there aren't many people who would get so excited over this type of thing.

oh MAN! I'm jealous -- very cool! And E, I hate to point this out -- but the red flowered fabric in your picture would look GREAT in mom's throw (which, by the way, was very neatly cut out and measured today. Go mom!)

You know, I'd had that thought, too. Patti, would you like a contribution or would that throw off your rhythm?

And can I just tell you how impressed I am that you're going pattern-free? Woo hoo!

Deb is one special friend! What a great gift.

Thank you for the offer but the throw goes to the machine today!

I did not not use a pattern, but I am finding it stressful!! I can do this, I know I can. With Kristen's support (she laughs at my anxiety, in IMs no less) this may be the break thru we've been waiting for.

You can do it, You can do it!!! This will be so good for your creative spirit!

(well that sounded a little earthy-crunchy now, didn't it? Sorry!)

Can we see end-of-the-day progress???? Please????

Unfortunately, I have made no progress on the throw. Since I seem to have the attention span of a gnat, I spent the day gathering supplies for yet another project. Just what I need!!

Now, maybe tomorrow...?

nice fabrics, erica. what are you planning on doing with them? or are they going to be part of your stash for now?

I hear you on the attention span thing. What's the other project?

For the moment they'll be stash (as if I need more of that!), but they may turn into bags of some sort. They're not very big--just sample size. Ideas?

are the samples fat quarter size? maybe you could make one of those origami bags that patti made us. but i know that that would require a pattern so maybe not. :)

This is the inspiration for my new project. I love the look of these but don't really know why. I did find round glass plates so I'm going to try a turkey plate. I thought they would be fun if you were taking something to someone's house as a gift, ie pumpkin bread.

They're smaller than fat quarters, so I think the origami bag would end up too small. But good thought--may have to ponder something like that.

Those dishes are great! I can't wait to see what yours looks like!

Am working on both the throw and the plates.
So far, the plates are a learning experience.....but I will post them.

And the throw is looking good! I'm even considering trying to stamp a couple of blocks to applique onto it. I have some great stamps, thanks to Amy and 'StampItUp'. I have to use fabric paint~right, Erica?

Yep, fabric paint. I use Jacquard Textile color--it doesn't make the fabric stiff. I get it at AC Moore.

Patti, you HAD to have made progress on either the dish or the throw by now! Report, please!!!
