As promised, here is the seashell box. It is a collection of shells I picked up at the various beaches we've been at over the last 20 years. Everyone thinks I bought shells but I didn't. I had the box sitting around for several years-flea market find- and suddenly-in Jan after our last trip to Fl.-I knew I had the perfect use for it. A little paint, a little decoupage and voila!
The directions for fake french seams-press both seam allowances to one side. Stitch thru all thicknesses close to seam. Sounds easy-going to try it on my linen jacket-after I get it cut out, etc.

and you should see these seashells close up -- I think she cheated and went to a shell store because they are just too perfect! I love the seashell box -- it looks like a naturalist's collection from around Darwin's time.
So I'm wearing the green and orange necklace that I thought I hated today. Mom was right -- it matches this new spring dress I'm wearing PERFECTLY.
The box is just beautiful! It reminded me of a naturalist's box, too, and the rock collection of my great-grandma's that I inherited (or scavenged...whichever).
Mom's know best! I guess that means I should get that bracelet at Target next time I go...
Picture of the rock collection, please and go buy the bracelet!
No cheating this time-just patience! Although I think you could buy the shells and get the almost same effect. So glad the necklace worked out!
The rock collection is still at my parents' house, so I'll have to dig that out next time I go home. I'd forgotten about it--thanks for reminding me!
opps! Sorry -got my blogs mixed up!
